Call for grants 2026–2027 to incentivize business creation (CREAR-EM)

Call terms and conditions

The UAB aims to boost knowledge transfer to society through the creation of technology-based companies (EBTs), knowledge-based companies (EBCs), or spin-offs.

To this end, the 2026–2027 Grants to Incentivize Business Creation – CREAR-EM are being called. The total amount available for this call is €12,000.

The application must be submitted by the interested person.

Applicant requirements

Teaching and research staff (PDI) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with teaching duties in the 2026–2027 academic year who wish to create a company before the end of 2027 may apply for these grants.

Eligible entrepreneurial projects must be supported by transferable knowledge or technology originating from research results generated wholly or partially at the UAB.

The incentive grant consists of a financial contribution to the beneficiary's department of origin equivalent to a 3-credit reduction in the teaching load for the 2026–2027 academic year for the applying PDI member.

Under no circumstances may this grant result in a teaching load of less than 7 credits per academic year for the beneficiary.

If the entrepreneurial project is selected, the reduction must be taken during the 2026–2027 academic year or the first semester of the 2027–2028 academic year, and always prior to the date of incorporation of the company.

The deadline for creating this company is December 2027. Under well-justified circumstances, a 6-month extension may be considered.

Acceptance of the grant entails a commitment by the applying PDI member to submit an application to establish an EBT, EBC, or spin-off, in accordance with regulations, within the established timeframe.

A PDI member may not receive more than one grant from this same call.

This call will remain open from its publication on the UAB website until March 31, 2027, or until the available budget is exhausted, whichever comes first.

APPLICATION

First. Fill out the electronic application form, which includes the commitment to apply for the creation of an EBT, EBC, or spin-off.

Once completed, download the form as a PDF and sign it electronically. You can check the digital certificates recognized by the UAB on the e-Office website.

Second. In addition to the application, you must provide the following documents, as specified in the Call document:

• The Principal Investigator's CVA (CVA data must be updated in EGRETA).

• A report detailing the information described in Annex I of the call.

• Approval from the department of origin.

Third. These documents (the application and the required documentation) must be submitted to the UAB Electronic Registry.

RESOLUTION

The resolution of the grants corresponds to the UAB Research, Transfer, Innovation, and Doctorate Committee. As an open call, partial resolutions will be made coinciding with the ordinary meetings of the committee.
