Volunteering

European Voluntary Service

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is one of the actions of Erasmus+, the European Union (EU) programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020.

It allows young people between the ages of 17 and 30 to serve as unpaid full-time volunteers for a maximum of 12 months in another EU country or outside the EU. It offers a chance to take part in the day-to-day work of organisations dealing with information and policy on young people's personal, social and educational development, civil engagement, social care, inclusion of disadvantaged groups, the environment, non-formal education programmes, ICT and media literacy, culture and creativity, cooperation and development, etc.

Young people taking part in the EVS can acquire highly important knowledge and skills for their personal lives and careers. The process is certified by the European Commission through the Youthpass credential.

At the UAB, the Fundació Autònoma Solidaria is a sending organisation. As a sending organisation, the FAS is responsible for informing and training UAB students, guiding them in their choice of a volunteering project, and coordinating with the host organisation to prepare for their arrival.
