UAB academic regulations for students who started the doctoral studies in the 2023/24 academic year and onwards (in Catalan).

Changes to your enrolment status must be requested to the Academic Committee of your doctoral programme, with a maximum of two modifications allowed during the first 3 years if you are enrolled full-time, or during the first 4 years if you are enrolled part-time, provided that the request is properly justified.

In exceptional and duly accredited cases, the JPED (Standing Committe of the Doctoral ScHool)may approve a change of enrolment status outside this period, as long as the extension period has not yet begun.

Procedure

The student must submit the Request form for chages of enrolment status to the administrative office of the doctoral programme.

Please consult the academic administrative calendar to request changes to your enrolment status (section 7.2).

Once the Academic Committee of the programme has resolved the student’s request, it will inform the School for Doctoral Studies so that the change can be recorded in the student’s record.

The approved change will affect the remaining time available for the completion of the thesis.

IMPORTANT

If you changed your enrolment status, please check the “maximum date for completion of the thesis” in your student record to determine in which academic year you must request the exceptional extension.

If you changed your enrolment status from Full-Time to Part-Time or vice versa, the maximum date for completion of the thesis does not follow the model described for full-time or part-time status. Your new deadline for thesis submission is recalculated from the date of the authorized change. In these cases, please check the “maximum date for completion of the thesis” in your student record to determine in which academic year the exceptional extension must be requested.

Examples:

1. If the authorized change gives you a new deadline between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025, the exceptional extension must be requested for the 2024/25 academic year, after completing the 2023/24 follow-up.

2. If the authorized change gives you a new deadline between October 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026, the exceptional extension must be requested for the 2025/26 academic year, after completing the 2024/25 follow-up.
