In a meeting today, the UAB Governing Council passed the University's budget plan for the year 2023. The budget, of 378 million euros (9.3% larger than the 2022 budget), must now be ratified by the UAB Social Council before it can take effect.

The budget plan is marked by a return to the situation before the pandemic and reflects important issues, such as the rise in energy costs and prices in general, government funding and additional needs caused by the current macroeconomic situation, and the provision of the Stability Plan 2020-2052.

More specifically, with regard to university income, the budget includes grants from the Government of Catalonia in compensation for the reduction in tuition fees applied in this 2022/23 academic year, and an increase in study grants for Nursing in accordance with the rise in number of students.

The budget is divided into different chapters, which reflect in detail each of the aspects foreseen in the income (current public administration transfers, tuition fees, research funding, etc.) and costs (staff, services hired, maintenance, acquisition of material and research tools, etc.). The most important chapter in terms of income are the current transfers and taxes, public prices and other sources of income. With regard to costs, the largest amounts belong to staff and purchased current assets and services.
