The Jaime Gil de Biedma – Ana María Matute Literary Contest will hold a commemorative event for the Catalan novelist, who passed away less than a year ago, and the winners of the second edition will be announced on Thursday 23 April, on the occasion of the Diada de Sant Jordi.
Certamen Literario
The literary contest has two categories: poetry and micro-stories, dedicated to Gil de Biedma and Matute respectively.
The UAB will celebrate the second edition of the Jaime Gil de Biedma – Ana María Matute Literary Contest during the Diada de Sant Jordi. The event will be divided in two parts: the first one, dedicated to Ana María Matute; and the second, in which the winners of the second edition of this literary contest promoted by the UAB Faculty of Philosophy and Arts will be announced.

The Jaime Gil de Biedma – Ana María Matute Literary Contest was officially born in 2014 in the UAB Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, after many months of preparing it. The objective of its promoters, students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, was promoting the creation of narrative and poetic works by students of the Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Language and Literature. This will allow future philologists to have the opportunity of presenting their literary works and to aim for the recognition and prizes granted by the UAB Department of Spanish Studies.

The literary contest has two categories related to both writers: one dedicated to micro-stories (so dedicated to Ana María Matute); and the other focused on poetry in honour of the poet Jaime Gil de Biedma. In this way, every student of the Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Language and Literature or students of bachelor’s degrees combined with language and literature at the UAB can participate.
