Yasser Mahmmod is an enthusiastic and results-oriented veterinary researcher with a strong background and experience in applied epidemiology and production animal health. My research experience and interests are centered around an understanding of the epidemiological determinants and pathogenesis of animal infectious diseases and its impact on the al health, production, and welfare. Furthermore, I am concerned also with studying the host-pathogen-environment interactions and impact of the potential risk factors on development and transmission of infectious diseases among animal populations. In the current time, Yasser Mahmmod widens his research interests to a new emerging research area about studying of the animal microbiome in association with the other metadata to assess the disease pathogenesis, and pathogen control. His ultimate research goal is to develop a novel disease monitoring and prevention methods, which strengthen the modern control strategies for improving of the animal health and welfare.

Dr. Mahmmod is conducting research activities on the metagenomics characterization of nasal microbiota and their interaction with swine infectious pathogens such as Haemophilus parasuis and Streptococcus suis in the weaning piglets. He is an active player in data management and biostatistical analysis of data from various epidemiological projects on animal health program. He is receiving extensive training on transcriptomics and bioinformatics methods for analyzing the microbiota data. Additionally, he is receiving good training on leadership and project management skills from P-SPHERE program. Writing research proposals and manuscripts.
