Research Groups

A research group is a research unit made up of members of the academic staff who share scientific objectives and are coordinated by a responsible researcher called coordinator.

The research group is considered to be the minimum structure in which research is organized at the UAB.

Consolidated research groups and emerging research groups recognized by the Generalitat of Catalonia are automatically considered as research groups of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The SGR groups in which researchers from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona participate in coordination with other research institutions, the coordination tasks of which do not correspond to the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and whose name appears the acronym UAB, also enjoy the automatic recognition as research groups of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with the same rights as consolidated groups and emerging groups.

The UAB singular research groups are the groups that have not yet been recognized by the Generalitat of Catalonia, awaiting a call, but that accredit the requirements of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
