This year 17/18 more than 500 delegates have participated in the trainings programmed by the Community Involvement Unit. Training is one of the basic tools that the UAB offers to delegates so they can work in the faculty.

The Census of academic group delegates this year has almost 600 delegate enrolled, and the training has had 538 attendees. The sessions are a space not only for training and tools for the task of the delegates, but also for the creation of a network among the delegates of the different faculties, a moment to share experiences and learn together.

As a novelty, this year the first-year delegates had a specific training program differentiated from the delegates who had already represented their academic group in previous courses. For those who served as delegated for the first time, training sessions have been offered on the basic tools they have, how the academic follow-up surveys or the scholarship system work, what structures of representation and participation exist in the centers and what is the composition of the associative groups of the campus. For those who had already been delegates in previous years, the sessions have wanted to deepen in some of the aspects on which the delegates asked for training in the evaluations of previous courses. For example, we talked about the electoral processes in the university, the opportunities for job placement on campus, how to deal with gender issues in classroom, how academic mobility works and what relationship can be maintained with the UAB when we finish studies.

The sessions had a duration of no more than 90 minutes and offered in two differentiated time slots to try to adapt to the needs of the delegates of all the faculties, and have been carried out with the collaboration of services and units of the campus, such as the Office of Teaching Quality, the Employability Service, the Academic Affairs Area, the Observatory for Equality, Alumni UAB and the International Relations Area.
