Next Wednesday 16th September at 1 pm the International Lunch will take place at the patio in front of the UAB Cinema. It will create a unique environment where food will be the perfect excuse for the international students, that this year have come to stay with us at the UAB, to get to know each other and mingle.

Who doesn’t enjoy a good meal with friends? Who doesn’t like to try new recipes or who doesn’t travel around the globe without even moving when tasting dishes from far away countries and cultures? Sharing a table is an easy way to build bridges between cultures that somehow seem not to match, and food works as a bond between different people that are equally captivated by the new scents and flavours. The popular say is not wrong when affirming that we are what we eat, and if we wish to share who we are with others there’s no better way than having lunch together. That is why the International Lunch is one of the key moments of the International Welcome Days; it is an activity that gathers all international students so they can share with the UAB community part of their country and their culture.

On Wednesday 16th September at 1 pm all international students are invited to bring a typical dish from their country to share. Moreover, the UAB mentor students will help to organize the activity and they will also act as local ambassadors bringing Catalan and Spanish dishes to share. It is known that sharing a dish of Kartoffelsalat, Humus, Tzatziki or pa amb tomàquet makes the conversation easier. Afterwards, at 3 pm at the sala d’actes of L’Àgora building, there will be the presentation of the Tàndem, an activity open to all UAB community that gathers local and international students to practise languages in group and in a different way.

The International Lunch brings to the UAB the flavour, the smell and a little of the culture of countries from all over the world. It is a unique opportunity to get to know better the international students that visit us this academic year and it is also the better way to meet new cultures: all gathered around a table.
