The Centre for Archaeological Heritage Studies (CEPARQ-UAB), the Association for the Research and Dissemination of Historical Heritage, and the Camarasa Town Council recently launched the Orígens webapp which offers users a scientific, educational, comprehensive and emotional experience of two of the most important natural and cultural heritage sites of Lleida: the Cova del Tabac and the Merengue memorial space.

webapp Orígens

The new web-application is based on the concept of globwalks (global or integral walks), which focuses on the criterion of not modifying the environment. Open and free of charge, it allows users to explore the two new routes proposed by the Centre Espai Orígens Camarasa: Camí a la cova del Tabac and A les trinxeres!, visita a l’espai de memòria del Merengue. Visitors can select the route and language (Catalan, Spanish, English and French). To access the contents, it is necessary to read the QR codes placed alongside each of the routes. Once inside the contents, the application allows you to choose what you want to see, in what order and at what time. In each of the spaces there are videos, voice-overs, texts, images and games that allow you to enter and interact with the content, application and heritage element.

The new route to the Cova del Tabac offers different points of interest until you reach the cave, each one dealing with different aspects of the landscape, flora, fauna and history, etc. that surround the Mont-Roig mountain range. Once in the cave, you can enjoy information on geology, palaeontology and archaeology. In addition, the application places special emphasis on the set of cave paintings, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with detailed information about them and a new immersive experience through augmented reality.

The route to visit the trenches of the Merengue memorial space consists of a series of events that took place in this space which can be recreated through images and music from the period.

The project also included the collaboration of the Catalan Ministry for Culture, the Geoparc Origen and the Interreg Poctefa-Patrim+.
