Manel López elected new dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The Board of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine appointed Manel López Béjar, lecturer in the Department of Animal Health and Anatomy at the UAB, the centre's new dean. Dr López will take up his position on 9 January and will take over from Professor Maite Martín, who has been dean of the faculty since 2016.

Working alongside Dr López, members of the new dean's team will be María Lourdes Abarca, Secretary of the Faculty and Vice Dean for Students and External Work Placements; Francesc Xavier Manteca, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality; Joaquim Segalés, Vice Dean for Economy, Services and Infrastructures; Anna María Andaluz, Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine; and Marta Capellas, Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology.

The new dean earned his BSc and PhD in Veterinary Medicine at the UAB and did research stays at the University of Nottingham, UK, the INRA's Nouzilly station in France, and at several universities in Brazil.

He is expert in animal reproduction, has taken part in numerous international competitive research projects, signed over one hundred scientific articles and participated in scientific training activities in various countries of Latin America. With regard to university management, he has been the director of the Department of Animal Health and Anatomy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (2008-2011) and Vice Rector for Research (2011-2012).
