Most of the UAB’s entities have organised some type of activities between 4 and 17 March to commemorate International Women’s Day, which this year took place on a Sunday (8 March). Collective entities, departments, centres and research groups of the university will offer shows, conferences, workshops, videoforums and round tables, among many other things.

The Observatory for Equality gives its support to all activities taking place in the university environment, and point out among all the conference on “Women, Leaders for Change”, carried out by María Eugenia Rodríguez Palop, professor of philosophy of law at Carlos III University of Madrid, which will be held on 6 Friday at 12 noon. Also highlighted is the screening of the short film “Silence”, directed by Jesús Méndez Cestero, on gender-based violence; this activity will take place on 10 March, at 12 noon at the UAB Cinema Hall.

Above all however, we highlight the activity that will be held on 12 March at 12 noon at the conference hall of the UAB Rectorate Building. There you can enjoy the act of recognition to Anna Cabré, open to the entire community and which also can be followed via live streaming. During the meeting, framed in the “10th Institutional Day in commemoration of the International Women’s Day”, the professor Montserrat Solsona, from the Department of Geography and research associate at CED, will present the academic and professional career of the honoree. In addition, there will be a video tribute, which includes reflections of the own Anna Cabré and interviews with some of the people linked professionally to her. To conclude the ceremony, the Vice Rector for Students and Cooperation of the UAB, Silvia Carrasco, will deliver the prize.
The Institutional Day will also feature the speech of the Observatory for Equalty’s Director, Montserrat Rifà, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Observatory and also to present the Third plan of action for equality of the UAB, 2013-2017 in charge of Silvia Carrasco.

You can consult the week's programme and script for the ceremony on the Observatory’s website.
