It is time for Ganàpies’ Springtime performance, which will take place on Thursday 21. At 2 pm in the campus there will be a Butifarra tournament, open to everyone: members of the groups, students and non-students. At 16 h the human towers will start, and there will be other groups invited to the event: Arreplegats (Zona Universitària), Trempats (UPF), Marracos (UdL) and Pataquers (URV). Because of the rain, Jaume Barris’s concert will take place in the Sala Dresden (Cerdanyola del Vallès), with a dinner and party to follow.

The human tower that they will attempt to build is a 2 de 7, which in the wintertime performance they could not dismantle and they have been practicing it since the beginning of the academic year. They will also build two simultaneous human towers: 2 de 7 and 4 de 7, with the objective to be more dynamic and to practice more pinya positions. They have decided to build wider and shorter human towers because they give more opportunities for training and participation.

University human towers groups are important because, apart from complementing traditional groups, they allow us to meet people from other faculties and also, to hold this kind of performances allows us to do the same with people from other university groups, says Laura Garcia (president of Ganàpies). The UAB Gànapies is the oldest university human towers group, last year they celebrated their 2th anniversary, and they sponsor Trempats (UPF), Penjats (Manresa), Bergants (Terrassa) and Emboirats (UVic). The relation between sponsor and sponsee contributes to the consolidation of the associations’ network and to the spirit of no competition and working together that should characterize public university.

If you want to be part of the world of human towers, do not hesitate to come to one of their rehearsals, every Tuesday and Thursday from 13 h to 15 h in front of the Faculty of Sciences.
