The activity, organised by the DocèncIA working group, took place in the UAB Auditorium on 16 October in a hybrid format. The event offered a space for debate to share doubts, experiences and proposals on how to integrate artificial intelligence into learning and teaching practices.
The session was hosted by journalist Olga Vallejo and included interventions by Toni Espinosa, vice-rector for Digital Policies; Santiago Robert, lecturer in Civil Law; Pilar Dellunde, professor in the Department of Philosophy; and Íngrid Noguera, lecturer in the Department of Educational Theories and Social Pedagogy.
The speakers highlighted that artificial intelligence already plays a relevant role in the academic field, but that it must be used critically, pedagogically and responsibly. They emphasised that technology can be a support tool, but cannot replace the value of human teaching or face-to-face learning.
Among the most discussed aspects was the need to train lecturers to guide students in the use of these tools and thus be able to get the most out of these new technologies. "Banning artificial intelligence generates distance; the challenge is to learn to use it pedagogically," was a point that was highlighted during the debate.
The experts agreed that the university must be ambitious in its digital strategy, taking advantage of artificial intelligence to improve teaching and strengthen the dialogue between technology and people.
