New call for UAB teaching innovation groups to foster educational transformation
The UAB opens a new call for teaching innovation groups, an initiative that aims to foster innovation in university teaching and promote interdisciplinary collaborations to improve the education experience. Applications can be sent in from 31 October to 27 November, and the teaching innovation groups will be functioning from 31 MArch 2026 to 31 December 2027. Rules and regulations and application form can be consulted in the UAB website's Training Unit. For more information please send an e-mail to formacio@uab.cat or open a UAB ticket with the reference GID.
Teaching innovation groups are formal groupings of lecturers who work together to design, implement and share innovative educational practices with real impact on students and the institution. The call is aimed at all UAB teaching staff.
Each group must be made up of a minimum of eight lecturers from three different centres, coordinated by permanent lecturers (or co-coordinated if they are assistant lecturers). The groups must apply their initiatives to one of the five strategic lines: transformation of learning and teaching; inclusion, equity and well-being; support and participation; social commitment and sustainability; and digitalisation and technological innovation.
The overall amount of the project includes 15,000 euros, with a maximum grant of 3,000 euros per group, distributed in two annual payments. In addition, the groups will receive institutional recognition and participate in knowledge transfer activities, such as the biennial teaching innovation symposium.
This call is part of the UAB's commitment to quality university teaching and complements the current calls for teaching innovation projects. According to José Luís Muñoz, Vice-Rector for Training and Teaching Innovation, "this call allows us to continue investing in the core of the UAB: teaching and learning. We are committed to empowering lecturers as agents of change in the direction of improving the educational experience of our students". The vice-rector emphasised that it is "an institutional strategy to move towards a more innovative university that is connected to the current educational challenges".
