A UAB research sheds light on poverty's official figures

According to UAB researchers, official poverty indicators – which show a shy increase from 20% to 22% in the 2004-2014 period – does not adequately reflect recent changes in the Spanish economy caused by the crisis. When the threshold of poverty levels in 2009 is used, the number of poor people between 2010 and 2014 go from 10.2 to 14.7 millions, an increase of 45%.
