Gemma Puigvert, lecturer in the Department of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, has been chosen the finalist of the ADE's "María Martínez Sierra" Award in Theatrical Translation for her work in translating Terence's play Adelphoe.
The UAB will be holding a new edition of its "Thesis in 4 minutes" competition, in which PhD students are asked to explain their research in a maximum of four minutes. Candidates may submit their applications from 4 to 20 March, and the competition will take place in front of a jury on 7 May.
On 15 February, from 2 to 5 p.m., a new edition of "campus activities" will take place, organised by UAB faculties and school. These activities are cultural, participative and complementary to academic subjects (talks, seminars, conferences, debates, institutional events, etc.).
Margarita Sentís Vilalta, retired professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, passed away on 8 February 2024. The UAB wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the people who knew and loved her and express its sorrow for her passing.
Esther Goitiz Zabala, member of the UAB administration and services staff (PAS) passed away on 1 January 2024. The University wishes to express its sincere condolences to all her family and friends.
The UAB Library Services offers the university community the possibility to participate in the citizen experimentation and prototype lab “Fanzins atemporals” (UAB), which will be held at the COMTEC Centre of the Communications Library and General Newspaper Archives and at the Faculty of Communication Studies on 7, 8 and 9 February, with the aim of finding new ways to rethink, reshape and reuse this collection made up of 849 fanzines.
Over 1,000 people participated in the 12th edition of the Solidarity Race to raise funds for La Marató de TV3, which took place on Sunday 17 December. The race was organised by the UAB and the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council, with the collaboration and sponsorship of the Applus+ Laboratories, the University of Barcelona (UB) and the EMD Bellaterra. UAB researchers have published The Third Half, towards the creation of healthier research careers, a compendium of international articles on mental health problems and well-being management affecting young researchers and on evidence-based strategies to help promote positive mental health and reduce stigma. These strategies include the University programme "Tercer Temps", which has been running successfully for the past three years.
On Monday 18 December at 1:30 p.m., the Theatre Hall of the Plaça Cívica will host the traditional Christmas concert of the UAB, under the title "El so de la llum" [The Sound of Light], with performances by the Choir, the Chamber Choir and the University Orchestra.
