2016 University Senate elections
On 3 and 4 November, the university community (students, teaching and research staff, administration services) will be able to elect the new members of the university senate. Voting will take place through an electronic voting system between 9 a.m. on 3 November and 6 p.m. on 4 November.

In these elections, all representative members from the four electoral sectors will be renewed: 81 representatives from the A Sector (tenured professors); 27 representatives from the B Sector (other academic and research staff with teaching duties); 90 representatives from the C Sector (undergraduate and postgraduate students) and 30 representatives from the D Sector (administration and services staff).

The provisional electoral census will be published on 6 October and any modifications needed to be made will be accepted from 7 to 10 October. The presentation of the candidacies will take place from 6 to 14 October and, after the provisional proclamation and period for presenting claims, the definite candidacies will be announced on 24 October. The electoral campaign will begin on 24 October and end on 4 November. The provisional election results will be made available on 4 November and a period for presenting claims will be opened on 7 and 8 November.

Maximum Organ of Representation

The University Senate is the maximum organ of representation of the university community. Its main tasks include debating all aspects of actions, controlling the governing bodies, putting forth regulation measures, requesting information on university activities and formulating recommendations, proposals and institutional declarations.

Each sector of the community elects its representatives to the senate. Both administration and services staff and teaching and research staff elect their representatives every four years. The student sector is re-elected every two years.

The electronic voting system used is common to all Catalan universities, promoted by the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and managed by the Centre for Supercomputing of Catalonia (CESCA), which guarantees the necessary security and reliability systems.

All of the information on the electoral process can be consulted at the UAB's elections website (in Catalan).
