The main objective of the ranking is to develop a ranking system for the world universities based on academic performances which are determined by quality and quantity of scholarly publications. .

The ranking is based on several indicators, each of them with a different weight: scientific productivity, measured through the number of articles published (21%); research impact according to the number of citations received per article published in the last three years and indexed by the Web of Science (21%); the sustainability and continuity of scientific productivity based on the total number of scholarly literature, including conference papers, reviews, letters, discussions and scripts published in the past three years (10%). scientific productivity weighted against the impact of each university in each of the subject areas (18%); impact in journals where the articles are published, also weighted against other universities in each of the subject areas (15%); and the degree of international collaborations, based on the total number of publications made in collaboration with foreign universities (15%).
