The UAB Choir and Orchestra present the Christmas concert entitled "El so de la llum"
On Monday 18 December at 1:30 p.m., the Theatre Hall of the Plaça Cívica will host the traditional Christmas concert of the UAB, under the title "El so de la llum" [The Sound of Light], with performances by the Choir, the Chamber Choir and the University Orchestra.
The UAB Choir and Chamber Choir, directed by Poire Vallvé, will perform songs by Joan Manuel Serrat, Víctor Jara, Caetano Veloso, Jaime Ovalle, Luiz Antonio and Jota Jr. They will also sing two pieces related to the year of Àngel Guimerà: Nocturn and La sardana de les monges. In addition, they will present for the first time the pairing of two traditional Catalan songs: El maridet and Joan del Riu, performed by Maika Casalí, who was the choir's assistant conductor, and then evolve into the piece Joan del Riu n'és maridat.
The UAB Orchestra, conducted by Jesús Badia, will play some very beautiful pieces, which transmit splendour and tenderness. Specifically, these will be a symphony by Johann Christian Bach, the interlude of Rosamunde by Franz Schubert, the Andante Festivo by Jean Sibelius, and the Salut d'amour by Edward Elgar.
Admission to the concert is free, but limited to the capacity of the hall. To attend the concert, you must register in advance using a form which will be available soon.
