The UAB and the Cerdanyola City Council hold the 2025 Literary Awards
Sergi Félez Navarro (short story), David Carreres Lacasa (poetry) and Francesc Cabiró Gómez (novel) are the winners of the latest edition of the Literary Awards organised by the UAB and the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council. The awards ceremony was held on Friday 16 May at the UAB. In this edition, a total of 147 works were presented. The winning works will be edited by the UAB Publications Service.

The Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona announced on Friday 16 May the winners of the 2025 literary awards in a ceremony held at the Theatre Hall of the UAB campus.
Sergi Félez Navarro (from Esparreguera) with his work Indòmit was the winner of the 16th “Caterina Albert” short narrative for young people award, endowed with 500 euros.
David Carreres Lacasa (from Castelló), with his work Allà on t'estime was the winner of the 30th “Miquel Martí i Pol” poetry award, worth 1,000 euros.
Francesc Cabiró Gómez (from Tortosa) with his work Aquell any a Xangxun was the winner of the 31st “Valldaura-Memorial Pere Calders” novel award, endowed with 3,000 euros.
In this edition, a total of 147 works opted for the awards, of which 43 participated in the short story, 53 in the poetry and 51 in the novel category. The winning works will be published by the UAB Publications Service and will be presented in November in Cerdanyola del Vallès.
During the ceremony, Cristina Ruedas, cultural technician of the City Council and secretary of the jury of the 16th “Caterina Albert” Short Narrative Award, was in charge of reading the minutes of the meeting of the jury of this award, where she said that the winning story, Indòmit, stands out for “being very well written with an intimate lexicon that describes the environment so well, that transports you to the scene where the protagonist lives”. The jury also emphasised that it is an “ecologist” work, and that it values the healing power of nature, as if it were another character in the book.
Joan Carles Marset, director of the Publications Service of the UAB and secretary of the jury of the 30th “Miquel Martí i Pol” Poetry Award, explained that the winning work Allà on t'estime was awarded because it is well cohesive and its author stands out for his good knowledge of the language, lexical mastery and intertextuality !linked to tradition.
Finally, David Vidal, lecturer of the Department of Media, Communication and Culture of the UAB and member of the jury of the 31st “Valldaura - Pere Calders” Novel Award, read the minutes where the jury defended that the novel Aquell any a Xangxun is worthy of the award because in it the author shows a good command of style and places the plot in an exotic environment, where the protagonist explores several moral and relational dilemmas, which end up deriving in a scenario of tension in which he is forced to make a final decision.
The awards ceremony was also attended by UAB Vice-Rector for Communication Virginia Luzón Fernández; Cerdanyola del Vallès Mayor Carlos Cordón; and Cerdanyola del Vallès Culture Councillor Andrea Borrego Valero. UAB Journalism Alumni Marta Ejarque presented the event, which was enlivened with a series of performances by the classical and contemporary music string quartet Quartet Moana.
