In comparison to the 2023 edition, the UAB has improved its overal score as a university and is now within the 56.9 to 58.6 points. In the area of academic teaching, the UAB has risen 129 positions and goes from position 330 to 201. In research, the UAB also improves from 254 to 228; and in research funding from the private sector, the UAB also rises from 667 to position 487. With regards to other universities in Spain, the UAB continues to be in second position, behind the University of Barcelona, which ranks 152 worldwide.

Despite this improvement in scores, the UAB lowers the ranking from 183 in last year's edition to being in the 201 to 250 top universities this year. This is due to the number of universities now analysed, which have gone from 1,799 to 1,904 universities. In addition, the Times Higher Education ranking has undergone a series of changes in its methodology, rendering some indicators incomparable to those used in previous editions.

The University of Oxford, UK, and Stanford University, USA, occupy the first and second positions of the 2024 ranking.
