Cécile Barbeito, researcher at the UAB School for a Culture of Peace, created this teaching material addressed to schools which is accompanied by an illustrated album called L'Arcadi al país de les oliveres (Bindi Books). The book, aimed at young readers, focuses on the figure of Arcadi Oliveres, Professor of the UAB Department of Applied Economics and Honorary President of the Advisory Board of the UAB's Solidarity Foundation (FAS), who passed away in 2021.

L'Escola de Cultura de Pau elabora un material didàctic per treballar el llegat d'Arcadi Oliveres

L'Arcadi al país de les oliveres is an illustrated album combining biographical aspects and infographies on the thoughts of Arcadi Oliveres, a leader in the fight for peace and social justice. According to the publishing house, this is the first book for children dedicated to the figure and ideas of Oliveres and focuses on issues such as pacificism, fair trade, migrations, foreign debt, tax evasion, capitalism, degrowth, democracy and civil rights.

With regard to the didactic material created by Barbeito, the illustrated album comes with a series of training sessions and activities which aim to cover four objectives: motivate students to question the causes and consequences of inequalities found in the world, apply empathy and critical thinking strategies, recognise the role of people and groups committed to solidarity and social justice, and participate in the creation of possible future alternatives.

The contents are aimed at a diverse audience, aged 10 and over, and fit the competence criteria of the area of knowledge of natural, social and cultural sciences at primary education level and of some secondary education level subjects: social sciences, basic economics, education in civic and ethical values, entrepreneurship and, to a lesser extent, mathematics.
