Provisional results of the UAB Senate elections
The elections to the UAB Senate, the highest representative body of the university community, have ended today, and the provisional results have already been published on the elections website. All sectors of the community were called to choose their representatives. The elections took place on 5 and 6 November using the electronic voting system.
The elected members of the four electoral sectors have been renewed in these elections: 83 representatives of sector A (PhD lecturers with strong institutional engagement), 15 representatives of sector B (rest of academic staff and research staff in training who carry out teaching functions), 75 representatives of sector C (undergraduate, master's and PhD students) and 40 representatives of sector D (technical, management, and administration and services staff). The official announcement of electoral results will be made by the General Electoral Board on 11 November.
Representative and debating body
The Senate's main functions are to know and debate the general lines of university policy, control the management of positions, promote the regulatory activity of other bodies, request information on any aspect of university life, and formulate recommendations, proposals and institutional declarations.
Each sector of the community elects its own representatives to the Senate. According to the new UAB Statutes, approved after the entry into force of the Organic Law of the University System (LOSU), sectors A, B and D—that is, all of the University's staff—renew their representatives every six years, while sector C—the student representation—renew their representatives every two years.
