CROMA 2.0 is a socio-educational programme of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) aimed at children in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability. This programme consists of workshops in schools near the university where UAB students carry out group dynamics, study support and research projects. The main objective is to awaken the interest in learning of 5th and 6th-grade students in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability who do not recieve support outside school hours.

This year, 27 UAB students participating in internships or as volunteers took part in the programme, reflecting the interest of young people to discover the realities existing around them.

During the visit, these students will act as hosts and accompany the children to the different activities. The children will have the opportunity to present the results of the research projects they worked on during the workshops, sharing conclusions, processes and learnings in front of their peers, members of the research teams and faculty. Several representatives of collaborating or funding institutions of the programme will also be present.

Students will then participate in various practical activities organised by UAB research centres, which will allow them to learn about the research being carried out. An activity will be carried out at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology UAB (ICTA) under the name “Meet the ICTA and help us reduce emissions”. The Research Group in Didactics of Social Sciences UAB (GREDICS) will offer “Thinking Bites” at the Faculty of Education. Finally, the School for a Culture of Peace will offer the activity “Meet the ECP” at the Faculty of Communication Studies.

Afterwards, a thematic treasure hunt will be organised around the campus, so that children can discover the university spaces and interact with UAB students and staff.

Aquest programa rep el suport dels ajuntaments participants, la Diputació de Barcelona i la Generalitat de Catalunya i treballa en xarxa amb d’altres agents del territori, com el Departament d’Educació o el Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental.

Before returning to their schools, a group photograph will be taken to immortalise a day that aims to promote equal opportunities and bring knowledge and science closer to children.

This programme receives the support of the participating municipalities, the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Covernent of Catalonia, and works in network with other agents such as the Catalan Ministry for Education and the Regional Council of Vallès Occidental.
