New STEMarium, a platform of ideas, experiences and resources for STEAM projects

With the goal of sharing multi-format ideas, experiences, and resources for educational STEAM projects (acronym for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics”), the new virtual platform STEMarium was recently presented. The platform is launched by the Ministry for Education of the Government of Catalonia, the “la Caixa” Foundation, the Scientific and Mathematic Education Research Group at the UAB (CRECIM-UAB), and the Catalan Research and Innovation Foundation (FCRI). The initiative forms part of the Government of Catalonia’s STEAMcat Plan.

STEMarium is addressed to everyone interested in the STEAM field: teachers, educators, experts in education, professionals of the scientific and technological area interested in collaborating in bring STEAM education into the classrooms, citizens in general, and education institutions, entities, groups and centres. It offers knowledge, resources, and tools in diverse formats to the education community in Catalonia, with the aim of helping those focused on developing, sharing, implementing or evaluating educational and learning projects in this field.

The platform was presented on 15 February in an event held at the CaixaForum Barcelona which included speeches by Núria Mora, Secretary for Educational Transformation of the Government of Catalonia; Assumpció Malgosa, Vice Rector for Research at the UAB; Jordi Mas Castellà, General Director of FCRI; and Maria Espinet, Head of Education of the “la Caixa” Foundation. The event included a round table moderated by CRECIM-UAB Director Digna Couso to present the resources available on the platform for early childhood, primary and secondary education.
