Health authorities have begun a campaign to encourage university students to receive their Covid-19 vaccination and thereby increase the percentage of students fully vaccinated before beginning the 2021/22 academic year in order to guarantee as many on-site activities as possible.

The goal is to increase the percentage of university students with the vaccine in order to guarantee as many on-site activities as possible on campus. Presently, one out of every two persons 29 or younger has already received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The Government of Catalonia has begun a campaign to encourage university students to get vaccinated against Covid-19 with the aim of increasing the number of young people with a full dose of the vaccine before the start of the 2021/22 academic year. This would help to guarantee a number of on-site activities on campus, which at the moment can reach 70% of full capacity according to the guidelines passed by the PROCICAT.

The vaccination process for young people is exactly the same for those of other age groups. By using the website vacunacovidsalut.cat, people can sign up and receive their shot at any of the vaccination points.

The health authorities emphasise the importance of having young people start the academic year with a full dose of the vaccine. It is fundamental that the 16 to 29-year-old age group participate with the aim of reaching herd immunity, minimise the effects of the pandemic and safely begin the academic year.

Vaccination of students participating in the Erasmus+ programme

Students who soon will partake in the Erasmus+ programme will find that their host countries may request that they present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate. For this reason, future erasmus students were offered the possibility of receiving the vaccine before others of their same age group. Thus, students who will be travelling to different countries during the summer and need a vaccine certificate, can go to their primary healthcare centre (CAP) and receive the vaccine before travelling by presenting an official document certifying that they are participating in the Erasmus+ programme.
