Application period open to apply for a #UABRefugi grant for 2026/27
With the aim of offering help to students in a situation of refuge or forced displacement, the FAS and the UAB have opened a new call for applications for grants in the 2026/27 academic year.

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the FAS have been collaborating since 2016 in the UAB Refugee Programme, an initiative to provide financial support to university students seeking refuge and/or victims of forced displacement. As of 12 January 2026, students who meet the requirements will be able to apply for this aid to begin or continue their studies in the 2026/27 academic year.
The grants offered fall under two categories:
Modality A
With a total allocation of 65,000 euros, the Modality A grants will cover 100% of the costs of academic and enrolment fees for the 2026/27 academic year. Applicants must have the qualification that allows access to the studies and at least a B2 level of the language in which they are taught, with the possibility of assessment through an interview if they do not have an official certificate.
Priority is given to residents of the province of Barcelona, then Catalonia and the rest of Spain, and the awarding of the grant will depend on admission to the academic programme.
Modality B
The Modality B – Study support grant is aimed exclusively to those who hold a Modality A grant in the 2026/27 academic year. The maximum amount awarded to students is 1,500 euros.
Those who have already received financial aids in previous years for technological support or translation and homologation expenses will only be able to request this grant for teaching materials, transport, materials for curricular practices and other expenses.
