“Our job doesn’t end in adopting motions in the Senate. It is a day-to-day duty in the assemblies”

We are Crida per la UAB, a crosswise candidacy that was born in the faculties’ assemblies. All faculties in UAB are standing for election, and it is not the first year that we are doing so.  We want to continue on the path that we have been through in the Senate so far, in which we approved an action protocol against sexist violence, we stopped the 3+2 and got the first two years of master’s studies to be the same price as a bachelor’s senior year. This will be the third term in which we stand as candidates.
 
What are your proposals as candidates?
 
We want the action protocol that was approved last year in Senate to be applied. We also want students to have the option to pay tuition fees in five terms instead of three, so that people who work and study at the same time have more time to pay the bachelor. On the other hand, we want annual evaluation to be an option for students to choose because those who work and study at once do not have time to attend midterm exams or to do group projects. This option is already given in UB, for instance.
 
The biggest difference with other candidacies is the fact that it was created from the assemblies and, thus, our job doesn’t end in adopting motions in the Senate. It is a day-to-day duty in the assemblies. We try to make the assemblies’ proposals that we take to Senate come true; we work from the institutional front and from the most informal work in the assemblies. Furthermore, we already have experience in being a candidacy and we have proved that it is effective. We took motions and proposals to Senate that were approved afterwards.
 
What model of university do you suggest?
 
We want a university that is entirely free, with universal access, and for this we ask for a 30% discount on university fees as the first step. Moreover, we want a feminist university.
