Culture and wellbeing: the UAB to inaugurate its First Culture and Health Week
From 13 to 16 October, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will be holding the first edition of its Culture and Health Week, an initiative that invites members to reflect on their emotional wellbeing through a variety of cultural proposals. Entrance to all activities is free.

The UAB Culture Unit, in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Education, the UAB CORE in Mental Health and the BoFestival, will launch the First Culture and Health Week, a proposal aiming to bring the university community closer to the reality of mental health through culture. The four-day programme will include screenings, theatre and artistic activities that invite members to reflection, awareness-raising and dialogue.
Some of the activities included in the programme are:
Monday 13 October 12 noon – UAB Cinema Hall, Plaça Cívica
Screening of the documentary "Anhedònia, dins la depressió", directed by Fidel Masreal and Facu Beraudi. The film, produced by Broadcaster with the support of the Government of Catalonia, offers an intimate filter-less portrait of seve people living with depression. After the screening, a debate will be held with the participation of Fidel Masreal (director of the documentary), Marcel·lí López (leading actor), Susana Subirà (director of the UAB Department of Clinical Psychology), Diego Palao (director of the UAB Department of Psychiatry and head of the Pychiatric Unit at Hospital Parc Taulí), and Ana Barajas (lecturer of the UAB Faculty of Psychology).
Wednesday 15 October 4:30 p.m. – UAB Theatre Hall, Plaça Cívica
Performance of the documentary theatre play entitled "A la deriva", by Marta Montiel and Elies Barberà. The play is based on interviews with people and family members of those who have been interned in different psychiatric wards across Catalonia, and reflects on the impact of these experiences, as well as on the evolution of treatment throughout the years.
Thursday 16 October 4:00 p.m. – Meeting Point: UAB Theatre Hall, Plaça Cívica
Artisitic stroll "Brots Transhumància", with dancer Magí Serra. This itinerant piece invites members to experience different artistic expressions through improvisations performed during the walk.
The First Culture and Health Week is an opportunity to address highly important social issues from a cultural and academic perspective. All activities are free and open to all members of the university community.
