The UAB participates in the First International Congress on Housing and Cities

Barcelona will host an international meeting to discuss the challenges of housing and the city, with a prominent participation of members of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The Barcelona Chair of Housing Studies (CBEH), promoted by the UAB, UB, UPF and UPC, with the support of the Government of Catalonia and the Barcelona City Council, organises its First International Congress on Housing and City on 26 and 27 May.

This congress will address the causes of the housing crisis, such as gentrification, segregation and touristification, and will present proposals to improve public housing policies.

The event will take place at the Auditorium of the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and will include a large number of members of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, who will share their experiences and knowledge on key issues. 

The inauguration will be on Monday 26 May 9:00 a.m. Representing the UAB will be Vice Rector for Campus and Sustainability Xavier Gabarrell. Judith Gifreu Font, as member of the coordination committee and scientific direction of the event, will also participate in the opening session. This will be followed by the various presentations. On behalf of the UAB, Mar Esteve-Güell will analySe the effectiveness and equity of aid for housing rehabilitation in Barcelona, while Carles Donat Muñoz will explore residential accessibility and affordability in the metropolitan area of the city. Also participating will be Juan Antonio Modenes Cabrerizo, who will address the projection of residential demand from a demographic perspective.

The UAB's participation in this congress reaffirms its commitment to research and knowledge transfer in key areas such as housing and the city, helping to identify solutions to the social and urban challenges of the future.
