How to deal with academic pressure successfully and prevent anxiety

Antoni Castelló and Anna Muro, two specialists in educational psychology, cognitive processes, emotional well being and academic motivation, will be offering a conference at the Journals Hall of the UAB Faculty of Arts & Humanities, entitled "Exigència acadèmica i estrés". Both experts will speak on how successfully deal with academic pressure and prevent anxiety from affecting a student's performance.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Ministry for Research and Universities, 42% of university students in Catalonia show symptoms of anxiety, 46% depression and 5.1% feel suicidal. Similarly, a study conducted by the universities of Gothenburg and Stockholm also alerts of a severe deterioration in the mental health of PhD students, highlighting a rise in anxiety and depression rates and in the use of psychiatric drugs.

The session is free and open to the public in general. Prior registration is required.
