On 15 May (new date), Chögyal Namkhai Norbu will offer a conference on Tibetan Buddhism at the auditorium of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He is emeritus professor of the "L'Orientale" University of Naples and one of the world's most important Dzogchen teachers.
On 13 May this year's second Family Day took place, in which future university students and their families visited the campus, the different faculties and the Vila Universitària.
UAB researchers analyse the impact of noise pollution in European cities in an EEA report. At least 100 million Europeans are exposed to levels of noise pollution which surpass EU limits. The noise is harmful to over 31 million adults, with over 13 million people suffering from disorders, 72,000 hospitalisations and 16,600 premature deaths each year.
On 21 April the annual award giving ceremony was held for this year's winners of the Institute of Catalan Studies' Sant Jordi Awards. Among the awardees are lecturers and researchers from the UAB's different academic sectors.
The UAB is one of the first universities to introduce Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) this year. Created by the United Nations, these objectives focus on extreme poverty, hunger, access to healthcare and education, and climate change, and will be offered in five degrees belonging to the Faculty of Education and the School of Engineering.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) presented its 2017 edition of rankings by subjects of the best universities in the world. Globally, the UAB occupies position number 166.
The Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN), of which the UAB is member, has released a statement in which it calls to maintain collaborations with British universities despite Brexit.
