Margarita Sentís Vilalta (1943 - 2024) was lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UAB since 1970, after obtaining her PhD from the University of Paris. Specialising in Clinical Biochemistry, she developed assays for glycosylated hemoglobin, fatty acids and diagnostic biochemical markers. She worked at the Children's and Women's Hospital of Vall d'Hebron and at the Medical Biochemistry Unit of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the UAB until her retirement in 2008.

Margarita was an excellent person and teacher, an outstanding professional and very much loved by all. We would like to send our condolences to her family, her two sons Daniel and Guillermo, and in particular to her husband Dr. Isaac Blanco Fernández, also a retired lecturer of the Biochemistry of Medicine Unit of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Our thoughts are with you in these difficult moments.
