Minor in Classical Culture

Objectives

The Minor in Classical Culture is addressed to students of all UAB degrees wishing to complete their basic training with an approximation to the Greco-Roman civilisation from an interdisciplinary approach. Students from the degree in Classics and Humanities cannot take the Minor in Classical Culture.

Nevertheless, those from the combined degrees of Classics with other language studies will be accepted, given that classical culture can be a good complementation to this exclusively linguistic training.

The minor does not include specific tracks and therefore you can choose the subjects which most adapt to your interests.

There is no need to acquire or possess any prior knowledge on the subjects which are offered in the minor.

Student profile

The students of the degree in Classics and Ancient Studies cannot take the Minor in Classical Culture. The subjects “Classical Culture I” and “Classical Culture II” cannot be used as part of the Minor by students of the degree in Humanities, since they are part of compulsory training in their degree. Also, the subjects “Mythology and Literature” and “The Classics in Contemporary Culture” can only be counted once as elective, either in the Specialisation in Contemporary Culture or in the Minor in Classical Culture.

The students from the combined degrees of Classics with other language studies will be accepted, given that classical culture can be a good complementation to their training.
