The University of Indonesia (UI) recently published the results of its GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities. This is the fifth year in which they publish this classification of universities, which compares the efforts made by each centre in terms of environmental sustainability and environmentally-friendly management policies.

The UAB has risen significantly from the global position of 126 in 2013 to the current position of 44. This rise has also placed it in third position among Spanish universities, behind University of Alcalá and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

This year's edition includes 360 universities from 62 countries, a notable increase from last year's edition, in which 301 universities from 60 different countries participated.

The University of Nottingham tops this year's ranking, and is followed by the University College Cork National University of Ireland and Nottingham Trent University.

The information on the ranking is organised into six categories: infrastructures, energy and climate change, waste management, water use, transport and education. Of these categories, the ranking highlights the UAB especially in energy and climate change, waste management and transport.
