UAB celebrates II Delegates' Day

Last Thursday 5th June, delegates from academic groups participated in the II Delegates' Day, a meeting designed so that the representatives of the academic groups know the main aspects related to the figure of the delegate, they make an approach to the reality of other faculties and encourage networking.

On the one hand, Sílvia Carrasco, Vice-rector for Students and Cooperation, introduced the latest regulation approved by the Governing Council, designed to regulate the delegate's role and from which emphasised its "flexible" character with the objective that "the figure of the delegate is effective in the whole campus". Carrasco took the opportunity to introduce the Finestreta Programme, which aims to help students overcome sudden, unexpected financial difficulties. She also announced that the next Delegates' Day will take place during the second week of November and May. On the other hand, Ignasi Fernández, Vice-dean of students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, said that 10 of the 14 degrees of this faculty have chosen their delegates of academic groups in a transparent manner and they are more than 60 students in total.

Before concluding the event, the Observatory for Equality introduced the campaign #comunicaccio, which aims to encourage the university community to react and report any kind of discrimination. The Day ended with the presentation of the Programme "Participate in summer too!" by the representative of the Information Point of the Participation Area. The programme offers the opportunity of participating in activities about solidarity, culture, equality and student representation that will be carried out in the context of the Summer Term UAB 2014.
