The Dresselhaus Awards of the Catalan Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (SCN2 Awards) were created with the aim of promoting and recognising scientific excellence, while at the same time bearing in mind social, gender and environmental awareness, as well as the ability of the research to be transferred technologically. This is the first year in which the Bachelor's Degree Final Project (TGF) awards is held. It is the first step on a long journey towards the creation of a fully structured recognition system in this sector capable of covering different levels of training. The awards carry the name of physicist Mildred Dresselhaus (1930-2017).

The first Dresselhaus Awards went to Sara Lumbreras Navarro, Physics graduate from the University of Barcelona (UB) with her project on "Development of a computer-based tool for a novel microscopy technique", supervised by Mario Montes Usategui. The second prize went to Iván Caño Prades, Physics graduate from the UAB, with his project on "Compositional nanoengineering in ferroelectric perovskites for photovoltaic applications", supervised by Mariona Coll Bau and directed by Eva Pellicer Vilà. Remei Escudero Franch, graduate in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the UAB, received the third prize for her project entitled "Preformation of a protein corona on superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles with human serum albumin", supervised by Anna Roig Serra. The project entitled "Ru and RuO2 nanoparticles on multiwall nanotubes for water treatment" by Sergio Campos Jara, graduate in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the UAB, directed by Núria Romero Fernández and Xavier Sala Romàn, was awarded a special mention for its notable quality.
