The University of Valencia hosted the final competition of the Xarxa Vives Network's University Debate League, in which after a very heated and tight debate, the jury determined that the winning team of the 2023 edition was the UAB. The UAB team was formed by students Pau Hernández del Àguila, from the bachelor's degree in Political Science; Rocío Albert Zayas, from the bachelor's degree in Law; and Dominik Andràs, from the double degree in BMA + Law.  And not only did they win the league, Dominik Andràs was also chosen best debate speaker.

The jury was formed by professionals from the culture, education and journalism sectors, and assessed each debate for the quality of the interventions and the validity of their arguments, as well as the degree of mastery of the subject, the communication capacity and their presence while debating.

Students from 12 universities belonging to Valencia, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands were in charge of defending the pros and cons of a controversial and current topic: "Is tourism sustainable?".

The competition began with an eliminatory phase in which all teams participated, while this last session offered the semi-finals and grand finale of the teams with the highest accumulated scores.

The 12 participating teams belong to the following Xarxa Vives member universities: University of Alacant, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Barcelona, University of Girona, University of the Balearic Islands, University Jaume I, University of Lleida, Technical University of Valencia, University Pompeu Fabra, University Ramon Llull, University Rovira i Virgil and University of Valencia.

In this edition, students taking part in the debate are enrolled in the following academic disciplines: Law (32%), Political Science (11%), International Relations (7%), Business Management and Administration (7%), Catalan Studies (4%), Economics (4%) and Geography (3%).

The University Debate League is a dialectic competition between teams of university students who debate on a controversial and current issue.
