Among its objectives are promoting positive environments in which people are treated fairly and with respect and in which everyone can grow and prosper

The UAB Governing Council approved a document which had been previously approved by the Commission for Equality and University Social Responsibility (CIRSU). Now, each faculty, school or institute will have to approve a political instrument that reaffirms the institutional commitment of the centre to defend an inclusive culture that promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a professional, academic and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected.

The objectives of this policy are to promote a positive environment in which people are treated fairly and respectfully and which allows everyone to grow and prosper; to make it clear that situations of harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct are unacceptable and that all groups have a role to play in creating a free and inclusive environment; to provide a framework of support for staff and students who experience situations of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct; and to provide mechanisms through which people in these situations can communicate and/or denounce them and in which an effective response is given.

This policy addresses the students of any academic programme carried out at UAB centres, the teaching and research staff who carry out any type of academic activity, and the technical, management and administrative and service staff assigned to any of the University's structures.

Members of these groups who consider themselves to be or to have been victims of harassment, sexual misconduct and discrimination, or those who have witnessed such acts, may contact the Faculty's Equality Policy Representative or the Observatory for Equality, who will inform them of the existing options.

In addition, thanks to the coordination between the Secretary General and the Observatory for Equality, and through the UAB's Training Unit, the centres will promote annual informative activities in order to raise awareness of the abovementioned measures and clarify any doubts that may arise. Students and staff must be committed to enriching their knowledge in the prevention of violence and harassment by participating in training and awareness-raising sessions organised at the University.
