The Biosciences Faculty inaugurates the second semester with a seminar about the risks to health caused by microplastics

The second semester in Biosciences Faculty will be inaugurated on Tuesday, February 18th with Ricard Marcos, UAB Emeritus Professor. He will conduct a seminar on microplastics and nanoplastics and the effects they cause to health.

On February 18th, at 1 p.m., the inauguration event of the second semester of the academic year 2019-2020 will take place at the Biosciences Faculty. The inaugural seminar, which will be held in the conference hall in Building C, has the title “Microplastics and nanoplastics. From an environmental problem to… a risk to health?”. The seminar will be given by Ricard Marcos, UAB Emeritus Professor of genetics.

Marcos is part of an Advanced Mutagenesis Group of the UAB and has been one of the pioneers in this field of study in Spain. He has also coordinated the Master in Advanced Genetics, the PhD program in genetics and has been the director of the UAB Mutagenic Evaluation Service. During his professional career, he has written more than three hundred articles published in specialized journals and has directed 49 doctoral theses. In 2010 he received the Fritz Sobels award from the European Environmental Mutagen Society and the United States Environmental Protection Agency awarded one of his researches an honorary mention to his Scientific and Technological Achievment Award.
