New faculties obtain institutional accreditation

The Faculty of Communication Studies and the School of Engineering have obtained an accreditation of quality thanks to their internal quality assurance systems, and an institutional certification from the AQU Catalunya quality assurance agency. These centres join the faculties of Psychology, Biosciences, Political Science and Sociology, Science, Economics and Business Studies, Arts & Humanities, and Education in having this accreditation. The remaining UAB centres will soon complete their quality assurance processes and also receive their certifications.

Being awarded a certification from an internal quality assurance system demostrates the implementation of an adequate system capable of detecting any improvements which could be made in the official bachelor's and master's degree programmes. The institutional certification goes one step further, it is valid for five years and allows the centres automatically renew the certification of bachelor's and master's degrees programmed by the centre. It also allows simplifying the calendar and documents needed to certify the quality of these programmes.

Both accreditation processes are voluntary and conducted with the academic support of the Office of the Vice Rector for Quality and Academic Accreditation, and with the technical support of the quality administration and management of the centres and of the UAB Office for Teaching Quality and Digital Transformation and Organisation Area. Moreover, the institutional accreditation of the centres forms part of the Strategic Plan 2018-2030, entitled "La UAB del futur. Horitzó 2030", in which this process is stated as one of the objectives of the section dedicated to teaching.
