The Environmental Science and Technology Institute of the UAB (ICTA-UAB) asked the university to try reducing the number of corporate flights. During 2018, the UAB has booked nearly 5.000 flights and, according to the institute, a big number of them could be replaced or avoided.

The Environmental Science and Technology Institute of the UAB (ICTA-UAB) wants the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) to reduce the number of flights. In 2018, the university booked nearly 5,000 journeys; some of them could be avoided.

For this reason, the ICTA-UAB has drawn up a document in which the use that the University does of this means of transport is analyzed and several proposals to minimize it are presented.

They will shortly present it to the authorities of our university. The ICTA-UAB states that they know that these measures will not solve the problem of global emissions, but they affirm “it can help to aware other universities and improve the reputation of the university”.

Precisely this week, the UAB Mobility Habits survey has disclosed encouraging data. Public transport has become the first option for those who access the campus. In this regard, this is the best statistic over the last 20 years
