Next 11th and 16th of June, at 15:30h, two briefings will be held in which benefits and characteristics of Industrial Doctorates will be explained: in the June 11 session to companies and PhD coordinators, and in the June 16’s one to students.
Industrial Doctorates

The Generalitat de Catalunya launches the 2014 edition of the Industrial Doctorates Plan, which offers PhD students the possibility of participating in an I+D+i project in a company compromised with research and innovation and at the forefront of knowledge. This initiative aims at contributing to competitiveness and internationalisation in the Catalan industrial network and at retaining talent.

Industrial Doctorates allow companies to be main actors in the training of new doctors, with fiscal aid and subsidies from the Generalitat. The aim is that, in accordance with the university, the industrial doctor ends having a training that meets business needs and that therefore helps responding to the challenges of development and innovation that the present environment poses. The project, which the student will develop over three years, will be the subject of a doctoral thesis.

The Generalitat de Catalunya will give financial support to these projects through two modalities, depending on some features in the projects’ implementation: Industrial Doctorate Projects Co-funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Industrial Doctorate Projects with Specific Aid. Call for applications will open during May although companies and universities can previously hand in Industrial Doctorate Projects already defined.

To present all the details about these Doctorates, on Wednesday June 11, at 15:30h, the Eureka building of UAB Research Park will host a briefing that will include the participation of Dr. Antonio Huerta, Director of the Industrial Doctorates Plan of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The event aims, firstly, to present with more depth to businesses the benefits of joining this project and provide information on the possibilities of collaboration in a doctorate of this nature.

Also, on Monday, June 16 at 15:30h, in this occasion in the Faculty of Sciences and Biosciences at UAB, the briefing addressed to interested students will be held, explaining characteristics and benefits of Industrial Doctorates. In addition to Dr. Antonio Huerta, two students currently enrolled Industrial Doctorates will attend to the briefing, Armand Rius involved in a project of the SEAT Technical Centre and Rucker Lypsa SA together with the UPC, and Rubirola Adrià, who participates with AGBAR and UB.
