The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona was one of the institutions awarded at the ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of the International Congress on University Teaching and Innovation (CIDUI), held on 9 July at the auditorium of the historic building of the University of Barcelona.

Reconeixement a la UAB en l'acte dels 25 anys del CIDUI per la seva aportació a la docència

The event, organised by the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and the institutes of education studies of the eight Catalan public universities, sought to recognise the trajectory of this space for meeting and reflection on university teaching and teaching innovation, which since 2000 has consolidated itself as an international benchmark. The UAB has been distinguished for its continuous contribution to the CIDUI through its Institute for Education Studies (ICE), Training Unit, and Vice-rectorate for Training and Teaching Innovation, which have played a relevant role in promoting teaching quality and pedagogical renewal.

José Luís Muñoz, vice-rector for Training and Teaching Innovation, wanted to highlight this recognition as the result of a collective effort: "This recognition is not only for the UAB as an institution, but for all the people who over the past 25 years have contributed with enthusiasm, rigour and commitment to making the CIDUI a place for meeting, reflection and transformation. Teaching innovation is a shared responsibility with our entire university community that helps us grow as a university and better respond to the educational challenges of our time". Edelmira Badillo, director of the ICE, highlighted the role of the CIDUI as a catalyst for change and collaboration: “The CIDUI has been and continues to be an essential space for sharing experiences, and generating and building knowledge among teachers committed to a university that believes in quality teaching”.

The event was attended by UB Rector Joan Guàrdia, and also included a lecture entitled “University and change of era: Where to place teaching?”, by Joan Subirats, professor in Political Science at the UAB and former Minister for Universities. The event ended with a performance by the UB choir.
