Professor M. Dolores Márquez receives the 7th Teaching Excellence Award

M. Dolores Márquez, professor in the Department of Economics and Economic History, is the awardee of the 2025 edition of the UAB Teaching Excellence Award. This recognition comes as a result of her fruitful and extensive teaching career, as well as her versatility in the development of teaching and constant innovation in the subjects taught. The award will be presented on 7 May 2025, during the Teaching Innovation Conference organised by the UAB.

The 7th edition of the Teaching Excellence Award, aimed at all UAB faculty members with more than 10 years of dedication, has selected as winner Department of Economics and Economic History Professor M. Dolores Márquez.

The award includes a cash prize of 5,000 euros spread over two years, which can be used to improve teaching.

The jury highlighted Professor M. Dolores Márquez Cebrián's fruitful and extensive teaching career, as well as her versatility in the development of teaching and constant innovation in the subjects taught, which has become a driving force for quality teaching. The jury also valued the teaching vocation that she transmits to students and faculty, introducing methodological and evaluation changes, especially in the disciplines of Mathematics and Statistics, and with a dedication and commitment in accompanying students throughout their learning process. In addition, it valued her contribution to the academic community of the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, with a constant involvement in everything related to the improvement of teaching and teaching innovation, and in a relevant way as a leader for teaching innovation in her centre. Finally, it also valued her institutional involvement in quality and teaching innovation, which has allowed her to become involved, also, in the processes of support to new faculty members, in which she has demonstrated absolute professionalism, motivation and commitment.

For the first time, the jury also awarded a runner-up prize to Professor Alfonso Rodríguez Baeza from the Department of Morphological Sciences at the UAB.

The jury highlighted Professor Alfonso Rodríguez Baeza's great and fruitful work and teaching career, always taking care of the quality of teaching. His teaching, which has been fundamental for many generations of Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy studies, has become a benchmark in the field of Health Sciences. The jury also highlighted his innovative and leadership capacity at the head of the dissection room of the Faculty of Medicine, which is a benchmark of prestige in the field of Human Anatomy at national and international level; at the same time as a resource and a tool for teaching excellence.

The Teaching Excellence Award will be presented during the 7th Conference on Teaching Innovation to be held on 7 May.
