On 19 November at 5:30 p.m., the conference hall of the Rectorat building will play host to the first session of the UAB Mentor Programme 2024/25 programme. The goal of this initiative by the Alumni UAB is to accompany students in their last years of studies and help them build up their professional career.

Students

Speaking at the event will be UAB Rector Javier Lafuente, Vice-Rector for Alumni and Employability Anabel Galán; and Vice-President of the Social Council Alícia Bosch, who will welcome the participants. This will be followed by a dynamic and participative activity entitled "Professional Self-Knowledge: Do I know what my relationship and communication style is like?" The activity will be based on the DISC questionnaire, a self-diagnostic tool that helps to identify relationship and communication styles in the personal and professional spheres. Participants will learn to recognise and adapt to different styles of interaction, improving their ability to relate effectively.

Following the success of the pilot experience in the 2022/23 academic year and the first edition last year, Alumni UAB is launching the second edition of its mentoring programme this year, with 148 participants divided into pairs of mentors and students. The alumni mentors with professional leadership experience will guide students to discover their potential, understand the job market and develop an action plan for the future.

Benefits for students include improved knowledge of their skills, empowerment for their career, understanding of the industry and confidence in developing their action plan. Mentors, for their part, have the opportunity to share their experience, contribute to the growth of new generations and participate in ongoing training in leadership and communication skills. All the participants in the first edition of the UAB Mentor Programme rated the experience very positively and agree that it was enriching.
