UAB’s volunteers present in the Barcelona Marathon

Voluntaris de la UAB participen a la Marató de Barcelona
The 41st edition of the Barcelona Marathon counted with the collaboration of Physiotherapy students. Around 50 volunteers supported the runners’ physical recovery with specific muscular treatments.

The 41st edition of the Barcelona Marathon counted with the participation of more tHan 17.000 runners. The Ethiopian runner Kuftu Tahir was the fastest woman in running 42,2 km in 2:24:44 h, while Alemu Bekele, athlete from Bahrain, was proclaimed winner with a tempo of 2:06:03 h. Thus, both the male and the female categories beat records.

A great number of participants, with more or less success in the marathon, were treated by the hands of volunteers for physiotherapy and recovery, which counted with the support of third and fourth year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from the Faculty of Medicine in UAB.

The volunteering activity was coordinated by Christian Fernández, professor at the Department of Medicine, and counted with the collaboration of Fundació Autònoma Solidària and the UTE-ASO RPM Racing.
