The most solidary sports event in UAB is launching its second edition. UAB Games, organized by the university’s sports centre Servei d’Activitat Física (SAF), will take place from 5 to 14 November under the slogan Mens sana in corpore sano. Last year 3.995 euros were raised and donated to mental health programmes.

The slogan “#UABrefugi: l’Autònoma acull” will be the protagonist during UAB’s whole academic year of 2018-2019. UAB’s commitment with the refugees crisis has increased ever since their shelter programme Programa Acollida was created back in 2016, its aim being to contribute in asylum-seekers’ full inclusion.

The UAB Games’ second edition will donate the money raised from registration fees to Fundació Autónoma Solidària’s refugees programme. UAB Games will start on 5 November and end on the 14th of the same month, while registrations will be open until 29 October, minimum fee being 5 euros.

These activities, which are also part of the 50 anniversary of UAB and Festa Major celebrations, are open to the entire university community in a cross-wise, solidary and inclusive manner. Students will be able to recognize 1 credit ECTS for their participation. Winners will either get an inscription for the competitions in which they participated or four free tickets to the facilities.

Activities will be distributed in 4 categories during the week: team sports, individual sports, e-sports and fitness. Some activities are Football 7, Basketball in wheelchairs, League of Legends or laughter therapy.

In the 2017-2018 edition, the first one, 3.995 euros were raised and donated to mental health awareness projects organized by FAS.
