HIV Quick Tests Campaign

Proves ràpides novembre

The days 23, 24, and 25th of November from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., the Research Centre of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona will carry out the HIV quick tests.

15/11/2021

According to the health system Catsalut, the test for detecting HIV is a blood or oral fluid analysis that can detect the presence of antibodies, p24 antigen or the RNA of the HIV virus inside the organism. In this case, the quick test that will be carried out in the UAB consists of a small puncture in the finger. The blood is allocated in a test strip and the liquid is added and, then, you just need to wait until it takes effect in order to detect the presence of antibodies, in the case of having the virus. Thus, with this campaign, the aim is to promote the early diagnosis, to raise awareness of knowing the results, to break the walls and stigmas about HIV and, in the end, to add a new way of controlling sexual health, with the purpose of making these tests a natural thing.

The tests are carried out by professionals of the institution ActuaVallès. The people interested can ask for an appointment through the following form and the Health Programme of the Autonomous Solidarity Foundation (FAS) will get in contact with them to offer a specific hour and date. The appointments will last 30 minutes. The test results are completely confidential. In case you have any doubts or questions related to the test, you can send an email to fas.salut@uab.cat or contact us through our social media @fas.uab
